Identification of trees and shrubsHow to start Start by choosing one of the six main plant feature categories. When you click on a category icon, a set of second-level symbols will appear. By choosing one of these, you will get another set of icons on the third level. When you click on one of these, you will get a list of names and images for trees and bushes which have the selected feature. The more third-level choices in different categories you make, the smaller number of possible species will remain on your list. If on the other hand you choose more than one option from the same third-level category, more species will appear on your list. For example: Choosing blue for flower colour gives you 65 species. Choosing blue and red gives 175 species. Choosing blue and radiate corolla shape gives 32 species. Choosing blue, radiate and 5 petals 5 gives 11. If you want to remove any of the features you have chosen, simply click on the corresponding third-level symbol again, or on the relevant feature description written above the plant images. Click on the green help buttons beside each feature category to view explanations of features and illustrations of examples. The feature groups on the first level are:
1. Geographical location; time of blooming; characteristics of the terrain
2. Characteristics of the flower and inflorescence 3. Characteristics of the fruit 4. Characteristics of the leave/leaflet 5. Characteristics of the bud and branch 6. Other features that help identification, including height, spinyness, smell etc. Some hints
